Borough news
The politics of portaloos
OVER the past nine years Queenscliffe Borough has paid a total of $12,400 rent on a makeshift toilet in the Oceanview carpark in Queenscliff.
Discussions are one thing, but decisions are another.
In other words don’t hold your breath, and if you’re heading to Ocean View you’d better recall to go before you go.
THE Department of Sustainability and Environment intends to reject an application to install fresh playground equipment in the foreshore park opposite the shops in Point Lonsdale.
THE Borough of Queenscliffe deferred making a decision on the $20 million harbour redevelopment proposal not once, but twice last month, while it waits for further accomplished advice on key aspects of the controversial plan.
Gold medallist leads local clinic
OLYMPIC beach volleyballer Kerri Pottharst passed on her abilities to the freshly formed Queenscliff Beach Volleyball Club at a clinic by Queenscliff Pier last month.
The Queenscliff Beach Volleyball club, part of the Queenscliff Sports Club, fundraised to pay for Ms Pottharst’s airfare to Melbourne to run the clinic.
Queenscliff seafood festival
DESPITE cool weather a good-sized crowd at the annual Queenscliff Seafood Festival helped raise $83,205 for the Children’s Hospital Good Friday appeal.
Co-ordinator: “Where’s the barbeque?”
Café Holder: “I told you, it’s in the shed.”
