Oldham County duo drives away in $35,000 luxury car for just – WDRB forty one Louisville News
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – A giant glitch turned into the deal of a century when an Oldham County duo drove away in a luxury vehicle for half the price.
«I still can’t believe it,” Sherri Cooper said. “I mean it just doesn’t seem real.”
While browsing Facebook, Sherri Cooper said she came across an Infiniti ad. She clicked on it, and what came up was a brand fresh Infiniti QX30 for just $17,790.
«I snapped a picture of it real quick and demonstrated it to (my hubby) and was like, ‘This is crazy. Look at the price of this brand fresh car,’» she said.
«I thought that’s wrong or that’s a misprint or there’s something wrong with the car, so I reached out to Infiniti,» Chris Cooper said.
«Chris had contacted me, almost jokingly, and said, ‘Can we honor this? Can we do this price?’» said Cam Meredith, sales manager at Infiniti of Louisville. «There’s no possible way that we could do that. I mean that’s $17,000 less than what we should be selling it for.»
The MSRP value of that car is $35,000.
Meredith then contacted Infiniti corporate about the situation. Consequently, the website was temporarily shut down to fix the price glitch.
«I was contacted then by Infiniti a few hours later, and they said, ‘Take the deal,’ and it kind of caught me off guard,” Meredith said. “I was like, ‘What do you mean?'”
He was told they were going to stand by the advertised price of $17,790 despite the website glitch and that the local dealership would be reimbursed for any money lost from the sale.
«They said, ‘Dollars don’t matter to us,'” Meredith said. “‘What matters is our integrity and our reputation.'”
«He said, ‘No this is what Infiniti wants to do. They want to get a loyal customer,'” Chris Cooper said. “And I said, ‘Well, you got one.'”
«Well, he thought I was joking,” Meredith said. “He was like, ‘You’re pulling my gam.’ That’s literally what he said.”
As the Coopers drove off in their fresh set of wheels, they said they’re still in disbelief.
«This doesn’t happen,» Sherri Cooper said, laughing. «I guess it does.»
Infiniti said the error has since been corrected.
