Lucas Papademos was a caretaker leader of government at the height of the Greek debt crisis.

ATHENS — Former Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos was injured by a parcel bomb inwards his car in central Athens on Thursday afternoon.

According to reports, he received injuries to his forearms and gams when he opened the parcel. He was transferred to Evangelismos hospital along with his driver and his security officer, who were also injured.

The economist and former Bank of Greece governor served as caretaker prime minister from November two thousand eleven to May two thousand twelve after the resignation of George Papandreou, during the country’s most politically turbulent period at the height of the Greek debt crisis.

A police spokesman said Papademos and the two other people were hurt, evidently not gravely but adding that it was “too early to say.”

The state-run Athens-Macedonian News Agency cited medical sources telling that Papademos had suffered soft-tissue trauma in the chest area, as well as minor burns to the face.

No Greek deal is no big deal because it’s close, EU creditors say

“I condemn unequivocally the attack against Lucas Papademos. I wish a speedy recovery to him and the people who accompanied him,” tweeted Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

At the Bank of Greece, Papademos oversaw his country’s stir from the drachma to the euro in 2002. He has also served as vice-president of the European Central Bank from two thousand two until two thousand ten before being appointed the caretaker prime minister in the wake of the Greek debt crisis.

While there has so far been no claim of responsibility, Greek politicians have in the past been targeted by militant far-left and anarchist groups.

In March, The Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire, an anarchist group, claimed responsibility for sending parcel bombs to the German Finance Ministry and the offices of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Paris, where one person was injured. Another eight parcel bombs were intercepted by Greek counter-terrorism police during a search of the main sorting office of the Hellenic Post.

Why is it that Greece is ruined but neither the Greek people, neither the Left wing government, has thought of confiscating the fled capital of Greek multi millionaires from Greece to the vaults of the German banks, by the hundreds of Euro billions ?

It’s just amazing the lack of integrity of these people and their mental wiring as one side fleeces the country and the other guys who are supposed to rectify the wrongs, just sit on the fence and keep begging foreign charity

In the eyes of someone who has lived WWII, lived through a revolution and witnessed a country divided and stripped of money and any chance of a future and coerced to flee its motherland to go and embark a fresh life in another country. This game by the rich and powerful has been going on for far too long. The worst thing is to keep people enslaved and poor. It’s only a matter of time before something gives. It’s not only the Greeks all nations are being dictated by the rich and powerful and compelled into hating its neighbors. The old telling in the art of war: “divide and conquer”
