A driver who may have moved too quickly in making a lane switch on Interstate seventy five south lost control of her car, which caused it to proceed into the grassy median and roll at least once.

The driver, identified as a 31-year-old woman, suffered injuries not believed to be life menacing and was taken to a hospital. Her dark colored sports car was left crumpled in the median, in the area inbetween the West Carrollton and Miamisburg Centerville (State Route 725) exits.

«I think she was just attempting to switch lanes,» said Sgt. David Robison, Ohio Highway Patrol, «and then lost control when she was switching lanes.»

Robison said the preliminary investigation shows the woman was in the center lane when the accident occurred at the tail end of rush hour. Fire/rescue units were dispatched at about 6:48 p.m.

Henry Essick II, a Montgomery County Jail chaplain and pastor from Centerville, said he was headed home from his job at one of the area White Allen auto dealerships when the woman crossed all three lanes of traffic, lost control of the car as it continued through the grassy median and flipped it.

Essick said he was in the left lane when he said she darted inbetween vehicles on the busy interstate. He said the accident appeared to be a case of too much speed and a failure to check other vehicles around her.

«She`s a nice lady, but she didn`t use very good judgment out here,» Essick said, who remained on scene as fire/rescue units arrived.

«She had a doctor, a nurse and a preacher,» Essick said. «She was in good form. We were ready for whatever contingency arose.»

Fresh restaurants and retail shops are coming to a development on the former Walmart site in Oxford.

Bishop Square – a 50,000-square-foot mixed use development at four hundred nineteen Locust Street that presently includes two hundred seventy two units of student housing – is adding Marco`s Pizza, Tim Hortons, a Sprint retail store and a bank.

«The final stage is significant because we`ll be building the outlots that sit along Locust, which will serve as the front door to the entire project,» said Josh Rothstein, of Blue Ash-based OnSite Retail Group, which is treating marketing and leasing for the project. «The retailers and restaurants are excited to open their locations here because being across from Kroger, TJ Maxx and Dollar Tree provides tremendous exposure, superb visibility and effortless access to the shoppers already passing through this part of town.

«It`s also lightly in walking distance to not only the concentration of Miami`s campus, but also the off-campus housing population,» Rothstein said.

Two other storefronts on the site are being are in the process of being leased, he said.

Existing Bishop Square tenants include Oxford Lane Library, Grace Health – Orthopaedics and Sports Rehabilitation, Superb Clips and Cloud nine Vapor Lounge. A second-floor above some of those tenants includes office space.

Alan Kyger, Oxford`s economic development director, said the community is excited to see the Bishop Square project moving into its final phases.

«In 2005, when Walmart moved away from this site, the abandoned building that was left behind was a large eyesore for the Tollgate Business District, as well as for the entire community,» Kyger said. «Developer Robert Fiorita is to be commended in providing such a good-looking redevelopment project.

«The addition of these merchants will provide the citizens of Oxford extra shopping options. I expect each of these fresh businesses to be very successful in this fresh development.»

Marco`s Pizza has seven hundred stores in thirty five states, doubling in size over the last five years and on track to 1,000 stores by the end of 2017, according to the company. Area locations include Middletown, Monroe, Hamilton and Liberty Twp. in Butler County.
