Malayalam actress abduction case: What happened so far
The state of Kerala is witnessing a crime that seems to be straight out of a Kollywood thriller, but this time it is far from reel life. The Pulsar Suni-Dileep-Malayalam actress case has seen several twists since the attempted abduction of the Malayalam actress in February this year. Not only has it been a traumatic practice for the actress herself, it has kept the Kerala police on their toes as more and more revelations come out.
SENSATIONAL TWIST: SELFIE
Actor Dileep has been attempting his best to get himself off the hook and clear his name from the Pulsar Suni controversial case. Dileep was interrogated for a marathon thirteen hours to understand his involvement with Pulsar Suni in the famous abduction case. Dileep denied knowing Pulsar Suni, but a selfie leaked to the media displayed Pulsar Suni on the sets of Dileep’s film Georgettan’s Pooram, putting the in further trouble.
The selfie has evidently been taken by a fan of Dileep, who dreamed a picture with the actor. Suni is seen in the background of the photograph, taken at the Kinattinkal Tennis Academy in Thrissur.
Based on this, the police are attempting to lump the puzzle together as to what Suni was doing at that location and whether he had help from those in the film industry to abduct the actress.
Dileep has stood his ground and repeatedly said that he is harmless and that it is an attempt to malign his photo and credibility just before the release of his fresh movie Ramleela.
MORE ARRESTS TO COME, SAYS KERALA DGP
The Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) Loknath Behera has said that there is a possibility of some very significant arrests in the Pulsar Suni case. The actress in her statement to the police also said that she suspected the involvement of some influential people, as during her abduction, Suni was allegedly taking instructions from a “lady” on the phone.
THE CONTROVERSIAL LETTER SENT TO DILEEP
The twists in the case began when Pulsar Suni said in a statement to the police that he has written a letter to Dileep. A copy of the letter, which is in the possession of India Today, speaks of the alleged links inbetween Pulsar Suni and Dileep. The letter, dated April 12, reads:
“Dileepetta, I am Suni. I am writing from jail. I am sending this letter with fine difficulty. The man who brings this letter to you does not know anything about the case. He is just doing this for me. I had come to the shop in Kakkanad before I surrendered before the court in the case. I was told that everyone was in Aluva. I am writing to you now because I feel like my life has come to naught since I got tangled in the case.
I am not bothered about myself but I have to secure the five people who trusted me and worked with me. Many people are asking me why should I become a scapegoat. Had I exposed the name of the person who put me on this job, even (the actress) would have apologized to me. Her people and your enemies are in contact with me. You could have at least sent an advocate to enquire about my condition. You did not do that. I had called up Nadir Shah to tell him some things. There was no response. You should know why I did not call you up. Just tell me what am I supposed to do. I don’t have to know if you should see me as a friend or foe. What I need is money. You can lightly send someone to me. I will wait for three more days after you receive this letter. I have to know about your decision before that. I have not told anyone of the affairs from Sound Thoma to Georgettan’s Pooram (Dileep’s films). I hope you understand the situation to write such a letter. Tell me if I should trust Nadir Shah or not.
I will get another advocate after a week. You take a decision. I do not want all of the money you had promised me right now. Give that to me within five months. I will call up Nadir Shah. I need an response then.
If you do not want me to call up Nadir Shah, send someone to me. Or send Rs three hundred as money order to my jail number. If I get that money order, I will be assured that you have not forsaken me. My RP number is 8831, c/o superintendent, district jail, Ernakulam, Sunil. Send it to this address. I am not writing anything more. Contact me in any which way. I have a lot of things to say. I do not know when I will be able to. I do not have time to lose. I have not betrayed you yet. You think about it before taking a decision. Whatever it be, attempt to inform me directly. Recall that I am still in jail. Do not believe anyone who comes to you on behalf of me. If you have anything favorable to say, tell that to Vishnu, who brings you this letter. I have always kept you safe, until this moment when you read this letter.
I am troubling you now only because I need money. I attempted many times to meet you. I went to the shop in Kakkanad only because I could not reach you. You go through the letter and tell me of your decision, whatever it may be. Tell this man if you have anything favorable to say. I will tell you more in the next letter.
Yours faithfully, until now“
RAIDS AT KAVYA MADHAVAN’S OFFICE
Based on this letter, the Kerala police raised the businesses of Kavya Madhavan, the wifey of Dileep, including the office of Kavya’s online style store which is located in Kakkanad. They did this suspecting that the boutique could be the place that Pulsar Suni mentions as the shop in Kakkanad. It is believed Suni said that he had sent a memory stick to the Kakkanad office which contained the pictures and movies of the abduction.
ANOTHER TWIST: AUDIO TAPES
In the midst of all this comes another twist! Some audio clips which were supposedly calls made by Suni to Dileep’s manager asking for a ransom have been released, which highlighted a fresh character in the drama, actor-director Nadir Shah. Dileep and Nadir Shah complained to the police telling that there was no truth in the audio clippings and it was plainly being used as blackmail.
ACTRESS SAYS SHE WILL SUE DILEEP
Further trouble awaits actor Dileep as the actress, after keeping mum for a very long time, ultimately chose to speak and said that she would sue Dileep for the statements made by him during a press conference asking her to be careful while choosing her friends. She said his remarks indirectly connected her with Pulsar Suni, which had no basis.
OTHER CHARACTERS IN THIS STORY
There are two other names that have popped up during the investigation. One is Vishnu, who is said to have spent time with Pulsar Suni in jail. Vishnu purportedly smuggled a mobile phone to help Pulsar Suni make calls to Dileep and Nadir Shah. How did he smuggle it? He evidently bought a brand fresh pair of boots and slammed the mobile phone in the heel.
It is believed that the police are now also looking at the angle of how Pulsar Suni may have made calls to Dileep’s manager Appunni and director Nadir Shah to clear his name. The police are yet to trace this missing link.
Another person of interest in this case is Jinson. He too spent time in jail with Pulsar Suni and during his questioning, mentioned that there was a link inbetween Pulsar Suni and Dileep. It was based on this statement that Dileep’s questioning and interrogation began.
SO WHAT EXACTLY IS THE CRUX OF THE STORY?
Pulsar Suni attempted to abduct the Malayalam actress. The seven member gang led by Sunil Kumar also called Pulsar Suni to intercept the actress’s car while she was travelling on the national highway 544, near Nedumbassery.
The accused allegedly followed the actress in a Tempo Traveller and hit the car which further led to an quarrel with her driver.
Pulsar Suni is said to have coerced the driver to take him and the actress in an unknown direction and while doing so molested the actress and clicked objectionable pictures and movies of her.
Once they approached an area called Palarivattom, Pulsar Suni got off the car and fled from the scene in the Tempo Traveller that was following them.
The terribly shaken and violated actress reached the house of a film director, who helped her file a police complaint.
During the investigation, it was exposed that a man named Martin who worked for a few months with the actress was also party to the plot.
