The Pittsfield city council approved selling the property the old Higbee School on Tuesday. Mayor John Hayden said business possessor Jonas Petty will buy the lot for $55,000. Hayden said Petty plans on building twelve units for senior housing, and with this sale the city recoups its costs to clear and buy the property. The Mayor said Petty hopes to close on the sale October 12th.
